Square One in Lafayette square, St. Louis’ first microdistillery!

Not only do they serve amazing food made with local ingredients(I had the eggplant lasagna!) but they distill their own spirits! I had the whiskey and it was very nice!

Stop in there for drinks or dinner if you are ever in Lafayette Square, one of the coolest neighborhoods in the Lou.

It’s FREEZING!

Finally broke down and bought a freezer for all of our goodies!

I have both of my deer I shot this fall, trout, bass, elk, pheasant, squash, pumpkin, strawberries, peaches and tomatoes!

Now I just need some bison! (stay tuned!)

Erin and I are already planning our garden for this spring and will be starting some plants soon in the basement, I will try and document that on here as we go, stay tuned!

Got a big one!

After a passing on dozens of nice 8’s, 9’s and 10’s over the past few years I finally found the one I was waiting for!

This young buck was a fighter and had an awesome rack for only being 3 years old! Had a broken brow tine, several bruises and a puncture wound from another bucks rack that pushed hair all the way up against his spine in his neck, so I actually did him a favor by taking him down, because he was probably hurting real bad from all the fighting he had been doing!

I also was able to take a doe which means we are going to have a full freezer this year!

made it out to the farm and was able to see that the crops I planted last month are coming in nicely!

Trout!

Erin and I recently went on a trout fishing trip and caught 10 trout between the two of us!

These will make for some tasty dinners this fall and winter, up next turkey and deer!

Yum!  Local hormone free beef! First beef I have eaten in over 2 months! I love ruebens, so I was so stoked when I was able to have one!

My dads hens!

These lovely ladies provide us with the most delicious eggs I have ever had!

He has about 12 hens currently and they each lay an egg every day/every other day, so wonderful, if you have never tried a truly fresh, truly free range local eggs then you are missing out, don’t fall for the so called “free range” eggs in the grocery store, they are a sham, these are the real deal!

Finished reading “eating animals” by Jonathan Safran Foer.

Very good read, talks a lot about how factory farms operate and where our meat comes from, you should definitely read this before you pick up your next big mac!

Last of our fresh tomatoes, basil, and some local mozzarella!
